This was something she liked to do, it was running through the track in the forest to keep fit, she had lived in Forks now for two years and was working as a nurse; she enjoyed every moment of it because it offered a challenge for her. Moving away from her family area offered her a chance to spread her wings and become independent. The sunrise was a beautiful thing to see, and every morning was when she would go out for a run if she was not working. This was her chosen spot to watch such a natural beauty for her run, it allowed her time to think and clear her mind from the daily stresses of life. Freya tried not to let things get her down no matter how hard it was to do such a thing. Controlling her breathing, she continued to jog jumping over fallen logs every now and again. She made sure that she did not go to far away from her car since she was at work in the afternoon.
Freya stopped for a moment to catch her breath drinking from her water bottle she placed her hands on her knees taking in the sweet oxygen. She was pushing herself further and further each time she came out here and she could start to feel the benefits of it she lectured people when they were in her care about staying healthy so it was only right that she would do the same thing and stay in top form.
She sat down at the base of a tree, looking up at the sky, it was overcast again so nothing new that would cause her surprise. Freya found nothing special about Forks; it seemed to be a normal town by any standards. Sometimes she did miss the city, but this provided a little bit of peace and quiet when she needed it the most.

The truth was that being in the woods was like home to her. It was where she and Edward first became close, but although as wonderful and pleasant as memories like that could be, it also was just as damaging. Running through the woods, she felt safe. For one thing she’d learned about the woods, and had a specific route she normally took each and every time she went into it. However this particular day she found herself getting lost. It was early morning, early enough that the sun would soon be rising and that was a beautiful thing. It was one thing she enjoyed as a human because if she were to be a vampire like the Cullens she couldn’t view it without her skin looking like a thousand diamonds all over her body.
The elements of the forest were beautiful and for once it was a good way to clear her mind and to get herself from feeling the overwhelming guilt that she had been building up for years. The only solitude from that was running, when she was not around people. There was only so much she could control however, as each day the path was somewhat different, there were more obstacles just like with life. Just like what Carlisle had told her.
Running was a gift that she hoped she could keep doing. Sure she didn’t need to lose weight or anything major like that but it was a great stress relief when everything around you fell apart. Like what had happened to her six years ago. After what seemed like an eternity she finally found herself resting, about twenty feet away from where another girl was sitting under a tree. She took a deep breath before walking over to the other girl. She didn’t know what to do exactly other than to try and say hi to her. “Hello.” She greeted the other girl and waited patiently to make sure that she wasn’t interrupting something important.

Freya was dressed in a black jogging suit completed with red running shoes. At High School she had run track and it was something she had always wanted to keep up with. It was her daily fitness routine and she can run quite a distance, she became a long distance runner so she could not worry about losing her breath if she had to run between wards in an emergency at the hospital. Freya had her fair share of emergencies at the hospital, though not as many as when she was training in Seattle. Since now she was sat down, she knew she was pushing her limits and she needed to actually catch her breath now.
Sipping once again from her water bottle, she closed her eyes thinking to herself for a moment, it was nothing of importance but she often found herself doing that once in a while. Sighing to herself, Freya found herself thinking about her family and how she should go and visit them at some point. Her sister Autumn was getting married in two months time, she was two years younger than her and of course she was a little jealous, she was the eldest and she should be doing everything first, but she didn’t show it.
When she heard someone greet her, Freya opened her eyes and saw that a female her age was standing there. “Oh hey there.” She looked somewhat familiar, or at least she thought she did. “Your Bella right?” Freya had heard about her when she had moved to Forks and since it was a small town she knew quite a bit about its past. “I’m Freya.” She stood up slowly aching slightly. “Boy I should stop pushing the distance running.” She muttered to herself as her knee cracked slightly. “Sorry about that, I think I am falling apart; I swear I wasn’t built right.” Freya chuckled.

She had been wearing a comfortable jogging uniform. Something she had started doing after she moved away. Normally she was clumsy and prone to life ending idiocy as Alice had once said. But that was then and this was now. She wasn’t out of breath surprisingly. Came in handy after dealing with the vampires and the shifters. She was good with weird, as Sam had once described her. Smirking softly she was enjoying the moment. That was why she had decided to at least introduce herself to the other woman.
“Yes. I’m...Bella...Bella Swan, daughter of the police chief Charlie Swan. Nice to meet you Freya.” She said as the other woman stood up and she gave the other woman a smile. “I know, it helps to run, to get your mind off of things but sometimes you lose track of what your limits are. At least that’s what I’ve been known to do.” She couldn’t help but chuckle right along side the other woman. Thinking, “You’re falling apart? You don’t look it, but then again neither do I, and I’ve all but fallen apart.” She was going to at least be polite nevertheless. It was how her family had brought her up to be.
It was strange to think of how long it had been since she had been in Forks. She couldn’t help but think of everything she had been through, of what she had been avoiding for so many years. “Are you new around here? I don’t think I’ve seen you around before.” She asked as even though she had known that she had been gone for a while, she did periodically come back to check on the quaint but rainy town of Forks.
Forks hadn't changed too much but everything else seemed to have. And it wasn't fair how so much time had gone by and yet it felt just like yesterday that she had come back to this town. How she had fallen in love and lost it all within a short amount of time. She pulled a bottle of water out of her bag that she always brought with her when she ran. It was safer that way so she didn't get dehydrated. She also had to keep her senses on high alert since this was also the feeding ground for Vampires, both the carnivores and those like her ex-fiancee's family. And also the shifters who lived nearby also were quite helpful but she was sure Freya wouldn't know about anything like that.

Freya listened to what Bella was saying, she had been correct, she had indeed heard of her and she nodded with a smile still resting on her lips. Bella was a pretty person and she was not going to say that of course, she was just a little more observant than others. It came with the job of being a nurse, it was a skill she had always had and it made her good at her job. Nursing was a job she loved and she had wanted to do for a while and she had fulfilled that dream. Folding her arms as she listened to her, once more speak.
“I used to run track, but I prefer long distance running, the pacing seems to work better for me. I throw in a bit of sprinting every now and again.” Freya had been injured before while running, she had broken her leg and her arm. It was something that she would not let stop her from doing a hobby she loved the most. “It is nice to meet you as well Bella.” She said once more. “I have been here for about two years now; I work in the hospital as a nurse. It different for me since I used to live in the city.” Freya told her, this was something she had wanted to do, moving away from the city gave her independence and she loved the small town, though it did get slightly boring from time to time.
“So what brings you back to this little town?” She asked Bella, she was slightly nosy and she did like to learn about people and who they were. Though she was not a gossip, Freya had never been one for idol gossip about people she did not think it was worth her time. Times had not really changed her, at school she had never been popular because she did not take part in the gossip, she often kept herself to herself and it was the only way she could survive that place. “Sorry if I am being too nosy, just tell me I won’t be too offended, my mom tells me it all the time.” Freya chuckled a little.

Everything that had happened, had happened for a reason and she had to accept that. Taking a breath she listened to Freya. “I was never athletic or anything like that. It’s just after I—I left town, a few years ago, I started taking it up recreationally to get things off of my mind that I wanted to forget.” She answered somewhat honestly. She couldn’t exactly say so that she could avoid the pain that she had left her vampire ex-fiancee in.
She was a clutz which was why it made little to no sense why she was trying to run. Of course she had gotten herself in more dangerous situations than she would dare care to admit.
She couldn’t help but smile. “I—I used to come here every summer when I was a kid...though when I was a junior in highschool I moved here to stay with Charlie, and then I left after graduation.”
She was being reminded of something she wanted to keep hidden although it wasn’t easy. She wondered if Freya had met Dr. Carlisle Cullen? If she had then she would know that the man was the most caring doctor....caring man she had ever known aside from her own father.
“I’d grown up in Phoenix which is a far cry different than Forks. And although it may be a small but boring town, I missed it. That’s part of the reason I came back, that and to see Charlie. So you work at the hospital? Then I suppose you’ve known of alot of talented doctors?” She had always called her dad Charlie. It was just easier that way. Plus given the man hadn't raised her, but had always looked out for her so she had to respect that.
Taking a deep breath she sighed. “No, it had nothing to do with you. And I’m not offended. You’re just asking a question that’s just a tad bit difficult to answer.” She answered politely as she wondered what all was going to happen next. "So what brought you to Forks? I mean it can't just be for the weather. Or the job for that matter. As most people try and leave Forks after a while....as it rains alot. Not to mention there's not alot of excitement here."

“It is good to take something new up, I took up learning to play the piano and here I am three years later still no better than I was when I first started.” She chuckled. “It gave me something to escape to when my studies became too much, nursing is not something that is easy to study I was glad when graduation came around.” Freya smiled at Bella. “Sorry, I tend to babble quite a lot when I get going.” It was true, she had still be learning when to be quiet, not that it worked but she just got on with it, if people did not like it then it was their loss. “Yes, I have worked at the hospital for about two years now it was my first job after graduating. Some of the doctors are amazing and actually don’t treat the nurses badly like some of the city hospitals do, so it’s a plus on the job for me.” It was true, Forks hospital was full of the nicest people she had ever had the pleasure of meeting; it was like a dream come true when she got the job. Freya had fallen in love with Forks and the surrounding areas and the fact was she was not too far away from her family if there was an emergency. It was everything she could have hoped for. “I am sorry, I understand if it is difficult to answer, I just have the habit of keep asking questions when I meet people for the first time, I find it nice to get know someone and not jump to any conclusions.”
“I suppose I wanted to get out of the city, I have lived there my entire life I wanted something different. I am asked that question quite often, but my answer will always be the same. I fell in love with place and I own my own house here so I suppose it was the chance to get my own independence.” Freya said to her speaking with honesty. It was not a secret why she was there and she would not keep in a secret because there was nothing she needed to hide. It had been something new and it was as if she was in her own little world here. “I just lack knowing people my own age, I am surprised at the lack of people, but I guess what you said about people wanting to leave would be that reason.”

She chuckled. “Cooking is what I’m good at, it was the only way that Charlie and I were ever going to survive, aside from eating at the diners....when I came to visit.” She said as she enjoyed learning new things and this town had given her plenty to learn about, even if it did come with a heartache. “It seems like a lifetime ago that I graduated myself. And it’s okay, you’re not the first that has babbled in front of me.” She answered politely as she felt like they could get along even if the woman in front of her might not know the things about Forks that she did.
“That’s good about the hospital. I’ve been working at the diner in town. Gives me something to do while I try and think of what I would like to do, afterwords. As I can’t see myself working in the diner forever. But it’s good, the pay’s fine and the people there are very nice. They also keep me on my toes...especially having to sample new products that our cook has come out with. Quite tasty, some of them are.” She grinned as she watched the other woman. Wondering what all she knew was inside this town. If she knew that she was surrounded by vampires and shifters, or if she like so many others were blissfully unaware of their existance. It was perhaps safer not to know, although she was grateful that she had. That way there were no secrets. “I can imagine that their bedside manner is better in small towns like this compared to a bigger city. So that’s got to be a good thing.” She said honestly while moving a strand of hair out of her face. “You don’t have to apologize. The main reason I came back was to visit Charlie, my father. He’s the chief of police here.” She replied as she knew that wasn’t the only reason she came back but a major reason. It was the biggest reason she had as she hadn’t known that her ex-fiancee’s family would even come back here. “I prefer to get to know people myself before passing judgement on them. Although there are certain people that pass judgement without even asking a simple question or listen to an answer.” That was the honest truth but there was so much more to that.
“Forks, grew on me. I suppose I could say. Coming back here every summer when I was in Phoenix. I missed the sun....the warmth, too. I moved baack here when I was seventeen to live with Charlie. After Graduation, I moved away, went back to Phoenix for a while and kept travelling after that. Even after I left, I found myself coming back here, something about this town has drawn me into it. Despite the fact it’s cold and rainy alot of the time. It’s a perfect area to raise a family, and to meet new people, at least in my oppinion. Independance is good as long as you don’t regret it. I’ve been independant ever since I can remember, even while living under my mom’s roof most of the time. Except for paying bills, everything else that makes a house work, I was able to do. Especially by putting food on the table.” Unlike most people she had plenty to hide, although none of it had to do with her....but the secrets of those she cared the most about. “I just recently moved back to Forks, myself after an extended absense of six years.” She sighed as she said it, she still couldn’t believe that was how long it had been since she had been with Edward, been happy.

For as long as she could remember, she had always been encouraged to follow her dreams except when she wanted to be a princess when she was six and her mother just told her that was not possible because they did not live in England. Freya had always had a caring streak about her and that just made her think about nursing even more, it was when her grandmother became ill that she considered it as a lifetime career and here she was almost ten years later from that moment. She was not a tough person by a long shot, but that was something else she was also trying to work on. It helped not to wear her heart on her selves in her chosen profession. “I am sure I won’t be the last.” Chuckling slightly as she ran a hand through her hair.
“I worked part time in a diner when I was doing my studies, I have never been so exhausted in my life, and it felt like a lifetime those three years of studying.” Freya smiled slightly after listening to what Bella was saying, it was nice to talk someone her own age and actually just talk to someone outside of work. It was a rare occurrence most of the time; she was the type of person to keep herself to herself. Of course, in Seattle, she had friends her own age and she had a social life but she never really did like the city life, she liked time on her own with her own peace and quiet. Maybe she would move back one day when the novelty of Forks wore off but right now, she was quite happy where she was. “Food… my one weakness it makes me happy that I do run as my exercise otherwise I would be the size of a house.” Freya grinned a little. It was true she enjoyed eating food because… well there was no real reason for it; it was just something she liked the most.
This was her home now; she never thought she would really find it because her father was a military man so she was always moving from one home to another during her childhood. Now she had a home that she could call her own, it was hers, her name was on the deed to the cute little two bedroom house. It was the small things in her life she cherished the most, it meant so much to her. “It seems we have quite a lot in common.” It surprised her since she thought she was one of a kind, but not so much any more, she did like this place more and more. “If you don’t mind me asking and just tell me again if it’s too much, what happened six years ago to make you want to leave here?” It was something she would like to know, but she would understand if Bella did not want to speak about it. There were some moments in her own life that she did not want to talk about. It was refreshing talking with Bella, she seemed like a nice and down to earth person, not many people were like that.

Dreams...some were fruitful and some could tear the mind apart, destroy one’s heart in the process. But yet she always believed in them. Most of the time they were harmless. It was when the dreams became nightmares, that was when she had to draw the line. She had always been one to care more about other people than herself, it was why she had ended up leaving the man she loved at the Alter. It was the hardest decision that she had ever made. Helping others was a goal of hers, and it was why she was willing to keep the secrets of those she had come to know.
She smiled softly as she looked at the other woman. “No, probably not.” She said when the woman had stated she wouldn’t be the last. Chuckling she couldn’t help but feel comfortable around the other woman, and why she didn’t know. She related to her, perhaps it was the fact of wanting to help. “Yeah, I’m just not sure what I want to do, I haven’t been back to school since I graduated six years ago. Since I don’t know what I want to do, and I don’t want to spend money on college without having some kind of a major.” She ran a hand through her hair. It had been almost unreal the way her life had taken it’s turn. Six years ago she hadn’t had to worry about that, about school or death, all she had to look forward to was a happy life.
A life with someone she had loved fiercely. She watched as Freya had run a hand through her own hair only moments later. It felt nice to talk to another human, someone who she didn’t have to have question her about why she left her fiancee when she did. There were variables there that she was grateful that she didn’t have to share with humans the way she could with those who knew the truth....about vampires and shifters.
“Charlie couldn’t cook to save his life, I think he ate out at the diner more often when I wasn’t around when I was younger. I always did the cooking whether I was at his house or my mother’s. It became a passion, I should say. Though I am not immune to it being a weakness either. That’s part of the reason I run as often as I do, because well aside from the fact that I love food and I love cooking, I can’t just sit around and do nothing...which is why I run most of the time.” She grinned a little as she said it. She loved food with a passion and it was one of the reasons why being around vampires especially, that when she had her eighteenth birthday party with the Cullens she ate the entire cake, granted it had taken days to do so, since it was big enough to feed fifty people! “Yes I suppose we do have a lot in common, though I think that’s a good thing.” She replied as she looked at Freya.
When the conversation turned to why she had left for six years, she hesitated before speaking. “I—I was engaged once, and the relationship did not end well. And to spare him the pain that I knew he was going through, just as much as I was going through, I figured it be best if I leave. So I did. First I went back to Phoenix, then to Jacksonville, and then pretty much wherever my heart took me. Although I always ended up coming back here. I just I couldn’t stay away.” She did not care to elaborate on who her ex-fiancee was, as that...just saying his name broke her heart these days.
She enjoyed moments like this where she didn’t have to think about him....to know that she had caused him so much pain. It was precisely why she liked talking to Freya. Not only was she down to earth but kindhearted as well from what she could tell of the other woman.

Times could change anyone and time would do that to a person, people did either change for worse or better but it was a fact of life. She had become more independent and freer about the person she was and what she wanted from her life. Freya used to live in the shadow of her sisters and even though she was the eldest, she often felt like she was the youngest. It was hard sometimes because she was not as smart as they were, but she never tried to let it bring her down, she was good at track and they could not run even if they wanted to. However, she was more of the loner than anything else, but again she made the most of the cards life had dealt her. It was something her mother had said that gave her hope and her mother had always been someone she looked up to, she was her idol. Freya phoned her when she could just so she could have a chat with her. It was that woman that gave her strength, hope and just freedom when she needed it the most. If there was one person she missed, it was her mom.
“I have always wanted to be a nurse and I suppose I was blessed with knowing what I wanted to do. It’s a profession where I can help people and do some good in the world since there is some much hatred out there. As cliché as that sounds.” Freya told her about her choice of wanting to do the major she had chosen. It was something she was passionate about, and if a student nurse on her ward was not passionate about it, then the college knew that same day. It was more of a calling than a profession. It was close to her heart and it always would be. “Well then, maybe we should hang out sometime when I am not working, it would be nice to talk to someone that was not a former patient of mine and is actually my own age.” She told. Freya knew that she was being bold, but this was a new chapter in her life for her and she was going to make the most of it. Then she found her listening to Bella’s story and she was a little shocked but she did not say anything on the matter about it because it was none of her business. “Home is where the heart is huh?” She simply said with a small smile on her face. “Life certainly throws curve balls doesn’t it?”
Freya had her own curve balls thrown her way in her life, when her nanna had died of cancer it was the saddest moment in her life. Her nanna had been her rock in her life and she had been an amazing woman, there had been no words to describe her. What had made it harder for her was that in her mind, she had thought of her as immortal and then she was gone. It had been hard to accept even after she had been buried, but time was a great healer and she had been able to look back with fond memories of course with a few tears every now and again. Freya had been through hell at that part in her life. “So what do you do in your spare time apart from cooking, working or running? Oh and I claim you as my new jogging buddy, if you can do long distance running of course?” Freya chuckled before cracking her knee again. “Damn old injury always complains.”

Time was not her ally but her enemy. Each day she grew older, each day she was that much closer to death. And death she would respect because she had earned it after what she had done to Edward. A man who had given her not only his heart but had trusted her with a secret that wasn’t even just his to share. A secret she would take with her to the grave. Taking a deep breath, her brown eyes looked around. She enjoyed this conversation even though it was a bit hard at times. Independance had come at a cost, and no cost worse than hurting the very man she had loved with all her heart.
A sharp knife on a short life....that was how she felt....like dying. Without having brothers or sisters she had respected Edward’s brothers and sisters...and had looked forward to joining their family since she met Edward and then it all came crashing down around her. She just knew that she had to accept the way that her hand had been dealt. Life was in the balance as people changed, some for better and some for worse.
Her mother had been a good one, and she loved her fiercely, just as much as she had loved Esme. Esme had been the one that had gotten her to think that everything was going to be okay and gave her the respect that one woman could give to another. Often she tried to talk to her own mom since Esme—she was sure wouldn’t speak to her, nor would the others as she had hurt them by betraying Edward. But it did not change how she felt about them. They were good people even if they were ‘cursed’ to be frozen in time the way that Rosalie had described it. A fate Rosalie said she wouldn’t wish on anyone. It was perhaps a mixture of her mom and Charlie that gave her the strength she needed when the time came for it, like when she had faced James at her old ballet studio in Phoenix. Edward had come to her aid then, as had his family and she had loved them for it.
“I’ve never had that kind of a passion for any one thing. That is what makes going back to school seem impossible. I just know that I want to help people. That’s all that I know to do.” It would also help her from feeling like the total failure that she was, not only as a woman, but when it came to relationships too. She had pushed the only man aside from her father that had truly loved her, out of her life forever.
“I’d love that actually. To just hang out with someone when I’m not working. I haven’t had that in a while....at least not with someone around my own age.” That was the truth as even though when she and Alice used to hang out, Alice was much older than she was. “Yeah, I suppose it is. This is home too, as is Phoenix. I guess that’s why I always find myself drifting from both places every once in a while. I love them both equally. Living in Phoenix and here in Forks, both of which taught me alot more than I could have ever dreamed it would. Charlie’s here and although my mother moved to Jacksonville after she got remarried, I still prefer Phoenix. But it’s like you said, life certainly throws curveballs when you least expect it.”
She replied with a small smile on her face. She thought about everything that had happened. From when her grandmother died, to just going to and from Phoenix and Forks for years. Home was where the heart was, although her heart felt like it had been ripped out of her chest, and sent in a box to Edward. Even now her heart was his.
“I read. I prefer mystery novels. I like to figure things out for myself I suppose. And sure, I’ll take the spot. I’ve not done long distance running in a while but I’m sure I could handle it, even without having been a track student in highschool.” She chuckled lightly. “I see you have an injury as well. Mine does that once in a while, mostly when it changes weather and gets too cold and also when I run for too long without stopping.” She replied as it was the truth. Plus she’d broken her leg once due to James. That was all but a distant memory now and she'd like to keep it that way.

“I suppose my father has a big influence in my life, he is in the military and my hero the way he risks his life to protect the nation when he is needed. He has always been there when I needed him as well, I wanted to make him proud and I like to think I have done just that.” Freya spoke to her, her father was indeed her hero, there was no doubt about that at all and he would forever be the most important man in her life, even if she was to one day marry. A smile appeared on her face when Bella spoke about wanting to hang out with someone her own age, the day seemed to be getting better, something she was grateful for. Friends meant the world to her, but most of them were still in Seattle. However, as her mother told her, it was to spread her wings little butterfly and not to waste her life regretting things. Therefore, she tried to live her life to the fullest and enjoy every moment of it since she would only get one chance at it. Freya tried not to let anyone get her down or hurt her with petty words.
Freya chuckled. “Oh don’t rub it that you have a natural talent for running without being a track runner.” She grinned playfully at her new found friend. She did not have much of a life outside of work, but it was nice to have a laugh and banter with someone and just enjoy fresh company. Sometimes it was hard working in the profession she did because it could drain her mentally, and it could bring her down though she tried not to let it because it was hard when she did, as if she would leave her personal life at the door when she started work.
“I like fantasy books, I have always been fond of getting lost in another world and away from reality for a short while, it gives me an escape when I need it the most. Real life gets stressful sometimes. As for my injury, it is an old one that gets to me when I push myself too hard running, but I like to keep fit. I think it just means a trip to the doctors, only for them to tell me to cut back on the running.” She chuckled slightly. Freya heard her mobile go off and she quickly looked at it to see that it was a message off her sister asking if she was going to the wedding rehearsal next week. Freya was tempted not to go since she was making her wear peach which clashed with her red hair badly, maybe she should just go back blonde. “Oh sorry about that, I have a habit of getting lost in my mind, I am surprised I don’t get lost in it since it is the cluttered in there. You would thinks sisters would learn to leave their eldest sister alone.” She chuckled a little, and then smiled. “So… what is your favourite place in Forks? Though I can imagine there are not many choices for you.” Freya was attacked to the coffee shop, since coffee was practically in her blood, she could not survive without at least three cups a day, and that was just to get her functioning.

Of course her father wasn’t as big of an influence as he ought to be given they didn’t spend much time together before she had moved in with him when she was seventeen. “My—well Charlie and I....it’s a complicated relationship given my mom divorced him after they had me here in Forks, and she moved from here to Phoenix, Arizona. She took me with her so I was always with my mother. Which is why, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him growing up. He’s a good man and he does have an influence in my life, he’s a hero as he’s saved more people than I can count as the Chief of Police. Although now looking back, I wish I would’ve spent more time with him when I was a kid—but alas I can’t turn back the clock. But he is my hero nevertheless, he’s just a different kind of hero. Not because of what he does for a living, but how he is with people. Always willing to help others in their time of need, even without thinking of what might happen to him in the process. He’d always told me how proud of me he was, though I don’t think he was very proud when I walked away from my fiancee six years ago due to circumstances that I cannot change. Now, although I love being here in Forks, I miss Phoenix. Which as you know is the polar opposite to a place like Forks. There it was sunny, and warm while here it’s kind of cold and dreary sometimes.” She replied as she looked at Freya and smiled warmly at the other woman. She was hoping that maybe they could become friends because it was nice to think she could have friends who weren’t vampires or shifters. It would definitely be a good change.
She chuckled as she listened to her new friend remind her that she had a natural talent for running without being a track runner. Of course Freya didn’t need to know why she was good at running. As she wasn’t about to mention that she had run away from vampires before when she was younger. “Fantasy books were always fun for me to read as a kid. Getting lost in the worlds—and lost without thinking of time that was slipping past me, it was brilliant. Just to escape from reality for a while, without having to worry about it catching up with me. Yes, I can agree with you there that real life does get stressful.” She responded giving off a warm smile. She shook her head when she heard about the injury. “Well I’m—I’ve always been a bit of a clutz, prone to life ending idiocy as an old friend once said, and so the doctors tell me to not run so much—to take it easy, but what’s life without a little risk every once in a while?” She asked her new friend.
She chuckled once more at Freya’s remark about her mind. “Well I can’t speak about sisters, because I don’t have any. I’m an only child....my parents divorced when I was a little girl and although my mom remarried, she and her new husband, don’t have any kids. And my—Charlie is a terminal bachelor who is still in love with my mother, so yeah he doesn’t have any other kids either.” She sighed as she looked at her new friend. “I love the coffee shops and the woods actually. They’re my favorite places in town. Of course I get out to Seattle and Port Angeles every now and again but that’s rare these days due to my working all of the time.”
