The truth was she had lived through more than she ever would have imagined. Perhaps it was true that she was stuck in the past so to speak, but not intentionally. It was just some of her best memories were captured there—and wishing she hadn’t screwed it all up. Her gut instincts had screwed her over because instead of following her heart completely she had ended up hurting the one guy who had loved her for her.
But she was very certain in her beliefs. Even as a young child she hated to hurt anyone. It was why she had gone to live with her father even when she hadn’t truly wanted to but she only did it to make her mother happy—because her mother had deserved it.
When Cat had walked up and given her a hug, she gasped, not really sure what to expect. It had been a while since she’d really had that kind of contact with someone. “Well I don’t really have any secrets. But, I guess time has a way of changing things.” She sighed as she looked at Cat. It was kind of one of those things she had to deal with on her own. Taking a deep breath she looked at Cat. “Alot’s changed in the last six years. I was engaged once—and I suppose....I’ve never gotten past it.” She replied as she looked at Cat. “I guess in some ways I never will.”
With vampires and shifters living through their world, anything was fair game. She couldn’t very well explain to what extent she had lost Edward, because doing so would risk not only his life, but his family’s and her own. It was something she wasn’t about to risk. “It was my own fault though. Even if I never intended for it to happen.” She replied while looking at Cat, watching her skip around ahead of her. She had nothing to fear, after all she had faced more than just the typical things a human would.
Six years ago—before leaving Edward at the alter, it was the worst thing she could have ever done. Let Cat have her innocence, in not knowing what she knew. All she knew was that everything was wrong, that she had followed a wrong path—a bad choice and for what?
