First Beach, it had always been a place of solace for Jacob Black, even when he was only a young child. The soft crashing of the waves against the cliffs had soothed Jacob when he had first phased as a sixteen year old teenager, though that had been nearly seven years ago, and it had been six since his best friend up and left without telling anyone where she was going. Jacob wasn't the same person he had been when that happened. Firstly he was now twenty-four and lived on his own, he had moved out about two years after Bella's sudden departure. Jacob knew Edward still blamed him for Bella's leaving and he knew that all that convincing he had done on her and finally sunk in, she had even told him that was what was going through her mind when he had gone to talk to her the other day. It didn't matter now though, he supposed, all that mattered now was that hopefully he had his friend back.
It had been sort of lonely without Bella, she had been the friend that entertained him the most even though his pack brothers and sister did a pretty good job of it, he had missed his childhood friend. Bella's return however still didn't fill the aching loneliness he felt whenever he entered his empty home. Jake had to admit he envied the pack mates that had imprints, had someone they loved to come home to after patrol or after work. Jake had always wondered when he might imprint or if he ever would for that matter, he knew it was rare, but he couldn't help hoping that would change soon.

Catrina had felt like walking to that beach she found herself lost at the other week and decided that she would keep track of which way she was going and not run into someone while walking and thinking. She giggled to herself and shook her head. She wore a simple out fit this wonderful day. Her skin had almost returned to her normal pale color so she wore a sundress today. Sure it was cooler and not sundress weather but she never got a chance to wear one when she was sick. Her aunty of course always worried and made her wear longer socks and a coat. After fifteen minutes on deciding green sundress or faded from navy blue to baby blue. Finally she wore the baby blue dress with her beige trench coat. As she walked she hummed that Lullaby that her grandmother had sang to her as a child, it was a bout the Wolves. While she knew her grandmothers words, she couldn't fully speak them, so she just hummed the tune. She loved La Push and Fork's little spot in America, it made her happy that she was able to live here, even if her life had to be short lived. There she was going again thinking about the end, what girl or guy couldn't help but to think of the end with cancer like hers. She thought about her grandmothers last words, "Be careful of the cold ones, The wolves protect us Granddaughter." She used her own languages word for Gran-daughter as her life slowly slipped away. To this day her grandmother's words stuck to her like glue and she never had met the cold ones, as far as she knew. She looked up at the beach's scenery. It amazed her once again, the breath taking of the place. Running into a hot body that seemed to be like a boulder she muttered sorry while looking up. She knew her sorry was quiet that no one could hear her. But this mans appearance was amazing and he seemed to glow to her, then again it could be her medication finally kicking in o the sun. Her heart skipped a beat when her eyes met a pair of big bronze eyes. She looked at the young man, who stood there, with amazement. His short black hair and his body told her he was raised here, maybe a family her grandmother knew but keeping that off her mind she stopped what she probably thought was gawking at the poor man and smiled. "He-he-he-he there I go again running into people, first Bella now you I am so sorry!" She said apologizing to him. Holding her out she smiled again. "I'm Cat, Catrina Landers." She introduced herself while with her other hand taking a strand of her longish blond hair that she still wasn't used to still out of her mouth.

All that Jake had been paying attention to up until now was the ocean with its rough waves and the way it ran straight up against the cliffs where he had been cliff diving so many times when he was younger. He couldn't help disliking the fact that he hadn't been in almost two years, ever since he had moved out of his fathers' house. That hadn't been a fun day, the day he had moved into his own little two room cabin. Billy Black was a man of few words and those few words had never been so powerful as when he had talked to his son on the day he was leaving. Jake would always remember his father saying ”your a man now son”. Ever since then things had been different, his father treated him as if he were on the same level now, he wasn't that hot headed teenager he had been seven years ago, he hated to admit it but he was kind of like Sam in a way.
At the feeling of someone running into him Jake was pulled from his reverie and forced to turn and look, to find out who or what had run into him. Upon turning Jake found himself staring into the most beautiful pair of blue eyes he had ever seen. The breathe was stolen from his lungs as he realized what was happening, the feeling nearly brought him to his knees, he had found his imprint. It had only been described to him by Sam, Jared, and Quil, the only three wolves to imprint so far. He felt it now, all the ties he had to his father, his friends, his pack, any tie that held him to this world was severed and something new took its' place. It was like a strong, steel cable, no a million strong, steel cables was connecting him to this perfect blonde haired girl, and he knew in that moment, he would do anything to make her safe and happy, no matter what it was.
Realizing she was speaking, Jake forced himself to breathe and he managed a small smile ”T-totally fine...I probably shouldn't have just been staring into space” he chuckled lightly. Taking the hand she offered Jake's breathe was once again caught at the electricity he felt shoot up his arm ”I'm Jacob Black, but you can just call me Jake” he said still smiling.

Cat smiled at the friendly guy that happened to have that odd effect on her. It was like her body exploded to life for a minute when her hand touch his. She liked that feeling, not wanting to let it go she hesitated for a moment when she let go of his hand. ”T-totally fine...I probably shouldn't have just been staring into space” He said with light chuckle that made her smile. ”I'm Jacob Black, but you can just call me Jake.” He said returning his name. She smiled, a name familiar to her at least the last name. "My grandmother Lander's told me about the old Black family that had been here when she was a child, even admitted probably having a crush on your grandfather as a girl. She sadly passed away though." Cat explained to him with a smile and looked up at the cliff. "i really wish I could cliff dive without it almost killing me..."She muttered to more of herself then anyone. "So, Jake what to do you do for fun?" She questioned him with curiosity and wanting to get to know this stranger that gave her such a lively feeling. She noticed his size, a bit bigger then average , muscle wise, reminded her of those boys she seen the day she ran into Bella. She liked being able to make friends and find interesting people out in the town of Forks, having not being able to get out much, she had few friends.

That smile, it was so perfect and it just brought joy to him and it warmed him, not like his high external temperature but a warm internal feeling that made him feel happy, and he knew he would do anything to keep that smile on her face. When Catrina moved to let go of his hand he noticed her hesitation, did she feel it to, the strong connection between a wolf and his imprint? The loss of contact caused the warmth to leave Jacob's body and he felt sad. He noticed his laugh caused that smile once again and he grinned in return. Jake smiled at the thought of his grandfather's legacy living on in the stories and legends being passed down through the generations. When she mentioned that her grandmother might have had a crush on his grandfather Jake chuckled softly ”Ephraim...my father gave me that name as my middle name”. At the mention of her grandmother's passing Jake could sense sadness in his new imprint ”I'm very sorry Catrina...I know that was probably hard on your family he said softly, in reality he just wanted to hug her and hold her close, but she didn't even know about the imprint yet, he was just some guy she had met on the beach.
He barely heard what she said next, but he heard it none the less and it caused him some pain even though he didn't really know what she meant. Taking a step, Jake brought himself a little closer to Catrina. When she asked what he did for fun Jake smiled again ”Well there's cliff diving, and spending time with my buddies, and I like to work on old cars and bikes and stuff, I work as a mechanic. It's what i'm best at” Jake loved being a mechanic and he had hopes of opening his own garage when he saved up enough. When he was finished speaking he took a minute look at her, she was shorter than him, kind of thin, but not terribly and she was pale but everyone in Forks was pale so he didn't chalk that up to anything. ”So, um Catrina how old are you?” Jake asked sticking his hands in his back pockets.

At that moment in time she felt like she could trust this man she barely met. When he had mentioned his middle name being his grandads name she smiled.”Ephraim...my father gave me that name as my middle name”. When Cat mentioned her grandmother, Jake seemed genuinely sorry with his words to her. ”I'm very sorry Catrina...I know that was probably hard on your family." he said softly, She at that moment did want to be held but she knew it would be odd to ask a stranger to hold her. She then remembered her list, have a stranger hold you. She almost smiled at that though but pushed it away she was cancer free there was no need for that list she hoped. Cat noticed when he moved closer, feeling his warm body almost made her question if he was feeling okay, he felt almost feverish hot but it kept her a bit warmer. When she asked what he did for fun Jake smiled again ”Well there's cliff diving, and spending time with my buddies, and I like to work on old cars and bikes and stuff, I work as a mechanic. It's what I'm best at.” Jake said with a grin. She smiled. She wished her body was strong enough for cliff diving. She noticed him taking in her appearance, she knew how she looked. She felt a bit of heat rush to her face along with butterfly's and a bit of worry about her looks. ”So, um Catrina how old are you?” Jake asked sticking his hands in his back pockets. She smiled and said with almost proudly, "Nineteen." She smiled, in her mind she screamed and a almost a year cancer free! She hoped it would be till she was an old lady that the cancer would return. "Honestly Jake, I feel like I can trust you, so I am going to say it so you know why I look so pale. I was a cancer patient at the Forks hospital I do go in for regular check ups to make sure the cancer is gone but its almost been a year since." She said, then almost holding her breath. She hoped he wouldn't just run off, she really hoped he would stay. Her Aunty told her it would be hard for her from now on because she could possibly have the cancer come back and any human would run in fear of loosing her. She feared this the most.

The closeness that stepping closer to his imprint almost brought a blush to Jacob's russet hued skin but the heat rushing to his face was stopped by the small smile she gave him. Jake felt a strong need to reach out and wrap his arm around the girls' small shoulders and pull her close to him but he knew that would seem odd, a complete and total stranger reaching out to pull you close, that would make her run for sure, if she already didn't think he was weird. Jake was a little baffled by the longing look that seemed to settle on her face when he mentioned cliff diving, he wondered what it was all about but he knew it would have been rude to ask and if she wanted to say anything about it she would do so on her own time. The blush that rose to Catrina's cheeks when he took in her appearance was amusing, she was gorgeous in his eyes and he was sure other guys felt the same way, if she felt embarrassed she sure didn't need to. Nineteen, so she was only a year out of high school, it made him feel old at twenty-four.”So you've outta school, for what? A year now?” he asked running one hand through his jet black hair.
Cancer! His gorgeous imprint, this sweet girl before him had, had cancer!? Jake felt a knot form in his throat and his breathing hitched slightly. A year free, that was good wasn't it? Then it registered in his head what she had first said, she trusted him. She trusted him! ”That's...that's horrible, but to look at you I never would have guessed...your, your very beautiful” o now she must think he was a freak, some random stranger blurting out that she was beautiful, but he couldn't help it. It was taking every bit of his wolfish strength and will power to to grab her and hold her close to him.

”So you've outta school, for what? A year now?” he asked running one hand through his jet black hair. She giggled, she wished it had been a year since she finished school, in truth never getting it done made it on her list of finishing things.
”That's...that's horrible, but to look at you I never would have guessed...your, your very beautiful” He said and she noticed him blush. She blushed too, having not been complimented very much besides from her Aunty and the occasional little boy that shyly compliments her, so she held that compliment in things never to forget. "I actually have been out of school since I got sick. Thank you for the compliment. I have actually been to this beach four times now, the first time I got lost and thank goddess Bella was there or I would have not only not made a new friend but not make it home." She said with a smile and smiled. "People in Forks are very friendly and I am glade that so are the people in La Push. Maybe I can met your friends too? I love to get to know people, seeing as I haven't really been out as you can tell from my paleness." She explained to him and told him all at once, she didn't know why but she felt fluttery around this stranger that she just met and she actually didn't mind him. "You seem like a friendly guy and know what to do for entertainment around here." She said with a giggle. She must have chatted the poor guys ear off. Her face heated up and she knew she was blushing right then.
