It was a long day for Embry Call. Not much happened, but he still had to put up with Jared’s pranks and his own patrol, which took longer than he expected. So you could imagine he was rather happy when Sam said he could take a break and be a normal person for a few hours. In a way he was thankful for the chance to get away from his fellow pack members. They were like family to him, which was a pretty good reason why he needed to get away. Family can get on your nerves sometimes, especially if most of them can shift into giant wolves and if one of them was the ‘always in a temper’, Paul. Embry jogged to the beach, he wasn’t planning on daring the waters today. It was far too cold and even though it would have little effect on him, he still didn’t want to walk into the water and freak the living (inserts colourful word here) out of pedestrians. So, he felt to sit on the beach and watch the sunset was rewarding enough for the day’s duties he fulfilled. So many things went through the young shifter’s mind. Thoughts turned and twisted way back to when he was still considered a normal, long haired teenage boy. He missed those days, but he also wouldn’t want to go back to them. Strangely enough he enjoyed what he was. Of course there were times when he did in fact wish and claimed he would give anything to be normal again. But he regretted it as soon as he looked at what he would have missed. And not to mention at the thought of just how many lives he helped saved by killing the things that wished to suck them dry. And with the thought of the ‘things’ his thoughts immediately found their way to the Cullen’s. The only vampires he could tolerate at this point, even if just barely. The Cullen’s came a long way with them, all thanks to Bella Swan, the very girl that stole and broke Jacob’s heart, and the shocking part? She broke Edward’s as well. Embry didn’t care much for the subject; it was none of his business. But everyone was curious, which included him. He thought she loved the vampire, it sure seemed that way. For a long time Embry had his doubts about Bella, he questioned her sanity. She was dating a vampire, willingly. But doubt was soon replaced by certain anger since she rejected and sort of fooled around with his best friend, Jacob Black. He was happy that the guy liked Bella, he even hoped that they would by some miracle end up together, marry and have a thousand babies and make him godfather. Mh, that ridiculous thought made his lips twist up into a grin as he ran down the path. But yeah, Jacob’s heart was broken and Bella left, Embry didn’t hear or know much about the situation after then. All he hoped for was that everyone ends up getting a happy ending, Edward, Bella, and especially Jacob. Embry came to a stop as the beach was now in his view. He panted slightly from the run, a grin formed on his lips as he pulled the ear phones out of his ears, reaching down for his iPod to stop the music. He ran the back of his hand over his forehead before he jogged down to the beach, standing with both hands on his hips as he stared out over the waves to the sun which was an hour or so from setting. With a final pant he took in a deep breath and closed his eyes to take in the sounds of his surroundings.

So much time had passed and yet it felt like no time had passed at all. Upon returning to Forks, she had dealt with running into almost all of the Cullens, save for her former fiancee—that was a difficult thing to even think about. She wanted to see him but understandably he didn’t want to see her. She missed the old days where things were a bit more simple. Walking upon the beach at La Push, memories flowed through her mind of when she had met most of the shifters. How she’d first learned that Edward was a vampire—right on the beach. Jacob had been the one to say it even if at the time she hadn’t understood it. Recalling how he had called them the Cold ones, it was the reason she had in fact done the research she had to find out more, her curiousity had gotten the best of her.
Coincidentally she had learned more from Jacob than she had ever thought. He was her best friend and he had pointed her in the right direction, even helped pick up the pieces when Edward had left her not long after he and his family had helped kill James—a tracker vampire hellbent on killing her. Because of how close the two had gotten—after so much time apart, it was then that she had discovered after a close encounter with a shifter, albeit unbeknownst to her at the time, Jacob had shifted—and became the wolf he was destined to be right before her very eyes!
It was a strange situation to witness but after dealing with the fact that the man she loved could sparkle like the sun, so how different was it to have her best friend turn into a giant wolf?
Although Forks wasn’t as sunny as Phoenix was, and the weather could be cool for the most part, she had enjoyed it. Enjoyed being home—as home as a place like Forks could get. Because it brought not only the good memories to the surface but the painful ones as well. Coming to the beach brought her to think of the events that brought her to where she was. Why she was what she was—a human—and then she couldn’t help but think of what might have been. How happy she would be then.
Being in La Push, she knew that the vampires didn’t come here—at least not her beloved Cullen family due to the treaty that was in place with Sam the alpha of the Quileute pack. She knew that the Quileutes and the Cullens had gotten along better now, in part to what she had done—even though it wasn’t enough. Taking a breath, she knew she shocked people when she went to marry Edward only to leave him at the Alter after also breaking Jacob’s heart too. Everyone had their questions—and sometimes it felt overwhelming. Between Alice, Jasper, Jacob, Esme, Rosalie, and Emmett....not to mention Carlisle, it was getting to be too much. It was a complicated situation as what she did had nothing to do with whether she loved Edward or not—even though people questioned that—after she left, and they had every reason to. Some say she lost what little sanity she had when she chose to date Edward—after all who in their right mind would date let alone marry a vampire willingly? Those kinds of questions were ones that the shifters would ask, she was sure of it.
On top of the fact she had dated and gotten engaged to a vampire—while Jacob had tried to convince her to be with him—some might say she had fooled around with him—as far as the heart was concerned, but he hadn’t been making it easy on her—neither of them had been. She had kissed Jacob once, but only because she wanted to keep him from doing something stupid and getting himself killed--even if on some level she had loved him, it wasn't the kind of love that she held for Edward.
It was kind of crazy to think that she had been the one that had broken everything. Torn people’s hearts upside down—some of them were beating, and some were not, but that was besides the point. The twenty four year old had only seen Jacob out of the Quileutes that she had once truly cared for. Yes, she had no problem admitting she cared for them. They—well most of them had been friendly to her, and she respected what it was that they did—to protect people and that they didn’t hurt anyone. She wondered how much had changed, if anything—but she couldn’t exactly ask Jacob as he was in no mood to discuss the pack. They were a family—the way that the Cullens also were. Not by blood—but by choice. To be honest she was wondering if it was a mistake coming back here. Getting out of her truck, she couldn’t help but think of what it was she was doing there. The water was soothing and she needed a chance to escape—before becoming overwhelmed with more questions—which meant she would have more answers to give—and she knew that no answer was good enough.
She had only been walking on the beach for about a minute or two when she spotted Embry Call. One of the shifters she had known when she and Jacob were still close. It felt like it had been hours, but as soon as she approached the area where Embry was, she stayed a few feet from him.
After all a shifter did have the tendancy to get angry and she didn’t want to be in the path of it—should Embry lash out. But she knew she had to say something. “Hello Embry.” She said softly.
