Not everything in her life had run as smoothly as she would have liked. Taking a deep breath as she looked at Daisy. She smiled, warmly as she looked at Daisy. “No, not really. I never really thought about it until recently. I just know that I would like to help others.” She said as it was something she was always good at, even if sometimes it was difficult. Even if it was difficult sometimes. Like the whole situation with vampires, and shifters, it all made things more complicated than it should be. But she owed Edward and his family her life, in more ways than one.
They had given her a reason to live—at least something to look forward to and she had thrown it all away, and for what reason? But now—now she had to focus on the here and now. “I would appreciate the help....I have no idea what I’m getting myself into....so much has changed in the last six years...” She didn’t know what she wanted to be—or do, but she did know that if she was going to remain a human she had to at least have some kind of a back up plan. Charlie would need her to focus on school, and focus on work—which working at the Diner had been helpful in that regard, as she was able to help keep the house afloat. Sometimes she felt like she had run from herself—from everything she had once held dear.
She hated herself for the pain she had caused but there was nothing she could do about it. She still hungered for it—for the passion and the love that she and Edward had shared but there was nothing left of it now—there was nothing left of her now. She needed something to believe in—hell she needed to believe in herself again, as hard as that was.
Which was precisely why she was helping Daisy. Because she had to believe in the fact there was good out there in the world—even if she had lost everything she had ever hoped for—ever dreamed of. It wasn’t that she was still as obsessive—as everyone had said—about Edward the way she used to be because in part she had given up hope of seeing him to a certain extent, not without there being a fight to witness.
