Ethan had just come from the school. He stayed over doing some things for the next day jhaving to do with teaching. He gathered up his folders and briefcase and he started walking out of the classroom and towards the double doors. He saw the janitor and he yelled” Wait up I am leaving” He then walked out of the school and towards his car. He placed the briefcase and folders in the backseat of his car. He then sat down in the driver’s seat. He took the keys out of his pocket and placed them in the ignition. The car’s engine turned over and Ethan put the car into reverse. He backed out of the parking lot and then put the car into drive and drove away. He was hungry so he decided that he would go to the diner. He turned the radio on and skimmed through the various stations. Once he came to the right station he nodded his head and continued to drive . he came to a few red lights and stopped at them accordingly because he did not want the Chief of Police to pull him over due to running a red light.
He came to the diner, pulled into t he parking lot and parked it. He took the keys out of the ignition. He placed them into his pocket. He opened the door and got out of the car. He then closed the car door. He then walked into the diner and went to a open booth. He sat d own waiting for the waiteress to come and take his order.

She had no intention of being late for work today. Taking a deep breath she started her car, and left Charlie’s and made it to work about ten minutes early. “Hi Cara. How’re you?” She greeted the other waitress before she smiled and clocked in. She liked working with Cara as Cara was as easy going as anyone could be under the circumstances. Especially given that the diner could have it's share of aggrivated customers. Cara went to go serve tables one and two while she had tables three, four and five. She didn't mind being a waitress to more than one table at a time, given it gave her plenty to do. Waitressing was easy, just as long as she didn’t drop everything. One of the tables she had to wait on was one of the booths located toward the back of the diner. Smiling as she took care of the others. Her last table was that booth. Instinct enough kicked in to know that there were certain people in this town that were well different. Not necessarily in a bad way but different nevertheless. Taking a pen and her pad to write orders down she took a breathe before she walked over. After what seemed like five minutes she approached the table. Looking at the customer she gave him a smile.
“Hello, what can I get for you today?” She asked, with a polite tone of voice as to not scare him away or pressure him into doing something so fast. She placed a glass of water in front of him and handed him the menu. “If you need a bit more time I can come back, when you’re ready if you’d like?” She offered as she knew the man had only just sat down but a minute or two ago. Cara had filled her in, letting her know there was a customer in the booth where even she usually sat when she was here while not on duty.

Ethan had done his things at school and drove to the diner. He also walked into the diner and sat down at a booth. A waitress came up to him and spoke to him in the ever so common way a waitress would. Ethan was then handed a menu and had a glass of water placed in front of him. He nodded to her and said” I think i may need some more time. Thanks for asking and you are doing a job good at what your job is.” He then looked over the menu as there waitress walked away. Ethan picked up his glass and took a sip of the water. His inner wolf senses sensed that the people around him were humans even the waitress was a human. He felt kind of like the new guy on the outside looking in. He decided on what he wanted and he motioned to t him waitress and he finished the glass of water he had in front of him. While he was waiting he looked out the window spotting people messing around like they had no mind at all. Then his focus turned back to the waitress standing there.

“Okay, sir. Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. I’ll be back in just a little bit. Take your time.” She had told him when she put her pen and pad in her apron before walking away. There was so much to do and not alot of time to do it in. She hoped that Cara was having better luck than she was, with making tips. But she hoped she would at least earn enough to put gas in her vehicle since she needed to be able to have a reliable car in case something happened and she had to leave suddenly.
What with the Volturi knowing of the Cullens, any time they could see that she hadn’t become a vampire....or become one of them. Going back against her word, and theirs had put her in danger. And she was sure by extention, the entire Cullen family too but she couldn’t worry about that for a moment. Right now she had to focus on her job and that was it. She wasn’t a fool as she knew that most of the customers here were human but there were certain ones that might be either a shifter or something along those lines. Especially given with as many vampires had come into the area recently. She was going to be on the look out for it either which way.
While the young man at the booth was busy deciding she went to go check on the rest of her tables and to refill the glasses of those tables. She loved her job. Sure it wasn’t the kind of life she had hoped for but at least she was making money and wasn’t having to have Charlie support her on everything. Taking a deep breath she picked up the plates when the others were finished. She took them back to the kitchen and picked up an order. She hoped this last table would give her at least a dollar or two in tips but she couldn’t be certain. Today alone she had only made about $10, which was low considering normally she could get around $20 if the customers were feeling generous. Returning to the booth, she gave the man a smile.
“So have you decided what it is that you’d like to order?” She asked confidently. She knew that the cook in the back would be all too willing to improvise if they didn’t have a specific ingrediant.

The waitress thanked Ethan for the feedback and Ethan nodded just so he would not seem unfriendly. Ethan said” You are welcome and anyone that does a good job should be thanked by the other person. As he was looking at the menu he was interrupted by someone getting pushed against the window and they were returned by a stare that could only be described as a deadly glare .Ethan then remembered that he did not need to call attention to himself. He did not want either side of his to come out. He just wanted to enjoy a good nice dinner and then be on his way. One time he thought he had made up his mind and was about to motion for that one waitress but he had a change of heart and went looking for another selection. He knew that there had been all sorts of vampires around and different type of wolf packs but the question was which ones were friendly. Would they welcome a hybrid with friendly gestures or treat him like a dangerous enemy like he looked at himself as. After all he had killed someone before in his life. He knew that there was a beach nearby in La Push and what he did not know was the pack that called that beach their territory. He figured one day he would try it out and see how he would be welcomed.
Ethan got up and made his way to the bathroom. Once he was in the bathroom he splashed water on his face and tried to cool down. He was feeling a tad bit warm. He had not felt it before. He had a thought “ Maybe it has to do with me being a wolf . maybe they are always warm to the touch.” He then droed his face off and tossed it into the trash can. He th en walked out of the bathroom and towards the booth. Once he was ssat down he motioned to the waitress. Once she was there he said” I will take the special and a diet pepsi. Got to watch my figure”

She had to agree with what he had said, and she couldn’t help but notice that the scene outside seemed to heat up a little. Kids were always pushing their luck around the diner. Many times it would get ignored, but sometimes their manager had to go outside and yell at them. Calling attention to herself might not be the best thing to do. This city had it’s usual customers, both human and the supernatural ones. Ones she had handled in the past.
Ones that she had found herself becoming dangerously close to. Taking a deep breath, she was halfway through her shift when she had been motioned by her coworker Cara and she walked over there. Cara made a point to tell her that the man had been looking at her from that booth and she couldn’t figure out why that was. But she knew there had to be a good reason for it.
He was different than most customers. That much she was aware of although what caused her to think that way she didn’t really know. She noticed as he got up and headed toward the bathrooms. Then once he returned to his booth, he summoned her over to him. She went and listened as he went and ordered his food. “Alright, the special and one diet pepsi coming up.” She replied, giving him a warm smile. Not bothering to comment on what he said about needing to watch his figure. “It should be ready in a few minutes.” She told him and then walked over to where Cara was standing. “Hey Cara. Excuse me, I need to talk to the cook a minute?” She asked as she walked through the double doors and into the kitchen. “Hey Jimmy. A special and a diet pepsi for the book, three fish specials and three teas for table two and five steak and fries for table one, all with pepsi’s. Fire them please.” She said as she walked out of the kitchen and walked over to the window where the food would be placed when it was ready. After a while the food was dished up and ready to go. She smiled. “Thanks Jimmy.” She dropped off the bigger orders first and then returned to the booth. She had barely just sat the food and drink down when she stumbled and went backwards, nearly falling on top of him. She noticed he was warm, too warm. It reminded her of Jacob, a shifter. “Ooh! Opps sorry about that I guess I must have tripped over my own two feet.” She appologized. “Are you feeling alright? You seemed awfully warm to the touch almost as though you’re burning up.” She said cautiously as she didn’t know how else to phrase it.

Ethan had given the order to the waitress and she responded with a comment about it would be coming up. Ethan liked how the waitress was doing her job and it was better than most waitresses’ that Ethan had been waited on in several other towns. The waitress gave Ethan a warm smile and that meant that the waitress was friendly and appeared to be liking her job. That was always a good sign of a hard and pleased worker. That or she just wanted to appear happy so it would mean better tips but Ethan wanted to think the better of the situation. The waitress said that the meal should be ready in a few and Ethan thought a speedy service would mean that he would be leaving a tip that was worth being waited on. Ethan looked at the kids outside and shook his head and muttered” Darn kids these days. They do not know how to give people the respect they deserve especially when people are eating.”Somehow he heard the waitress talk to the cook about the several orders that she took . Ethan realized that she knew what she was doing and had a good head on her shoulders. He did not know if she saw him look towards her way but he quickly changed his look at a different thing.
Shortly after she spoke to the cook the waitress came towards Ethan and delivered his food to him and his drink. Then all of a sudden she lost her balance and fell onto him. He chuckled and said” I guess you need to watch your balance huh. Its alright mistakes happen. Oh my heat is because i am trying to recover from a fever. I have been under the weather the last few days. Thanks for your concern.” He did not know if she believed him or not. He hoped she did not pry any deeper because he did not want to reveal his secret and risk trouble starting around town.

The day had started with her wanting to do a good job and make some tips so that one day she could go back to school if she had wanted to. But it was more complicated than that. She knew that she was risking everything just by being out in the open. To where the Volturi could see her. If they so chose to. Staying in Forks like this was putting herself in danger, and she had to accept that. With all the vampires that were lurking around Forks, there were more shifters that were phasing, and joining the Quileutes. Which meant there would be a war on the horizon and she knew she would be a part of it. Even if she had to be a distraction like how she had been with Victoria. Victoria had nearly killed Edward but she cut herself allowing the blood to flow down her arm which caused Victoria to be momentarily distracted and allowed her death to occur.
Being human with the knowledge that she had was also dangerous in the Volturi’s eyes which was why she was a target. Aro had said she had certain gifts even as a human because he could not read her. He wanted to collect her, Edward and Alice and each of them had refused. “My balance. Yes, I suppose I need to watch it.” She sighed hesitantly as she stood back upright, allowing herself the option to look at him, which she did. “Right....a fever. I don’t buy it. You’re not the first one I’ve met who....has the kind of high body temperatures that you have.” She lowered her voice so that only he could hear her. She had to prove that she knew what he was...but also not to let it slide in case she was mistaken. Which she knew she wasn’t. He wasn’t normal. But then again neither was she, even if she was a traditional human.
Her heart continued to race as she knew he was a shifter. There was no doubt about that but something had told her that he was somewhat different from what Jacob was....and what he was all about. It wasn't the first time she'd run into a supernatural creature....whether it be a vampire or a shifter and her eyes would show that she was not afraid.

Since the waitress was recovering from her accident she maintained her stance and he could feel the waitress’s hand press against his body. He knew that might be a bad thing to do. Then she spoke and Ethan realized that he would have some explaining to do. He would that or try to talk his way out of that. Ethan asked”What do you mean that i do not have a fever? It could be possible that i could have one. What are you talking about that I am no not the first one to have what? Oh I must be a different type of person if we go along with what you think you know. “ Ethan was trying to be slick and talk his way out of that matter. He had a feeling that she knew what she was talking about and that there were more people that had the wolf gene around. This raised his curiosity. He wished that there was somewhere that they could go and talk it over. He now had the feeling that Forks was not the normal town that everyone might think it is.

She didn’t know if it was necessarily a good idea to jump into something like this. But she didn’t know else to approach it. Cara smiled, it was though Cara was encouraging her to talk to the guy. She didn’t understand the reasons why...but she did it anyway. Taking a breath, she watched his reaction...which was typical given what she had been trying to say. He was trying to avoid it. She couldn’t let him avoid it though.
“You could, but I don’t think so. I think there’s something else involved and I’m sure that I know what it is. You just don’t want to say it...which is understandable, given the rules and all. Now there is no talking your way out of this one.” She knew that she had him with what she had said but just to be on the safe side she figured she ought to throw out her next sentance.
“There’s normal and there’s normal. And I know the diference. Sometimes you just have to think outside of the box to see what’s right in front of you.” Cara motioned her to look at her watch. It was almost her lunch break and since she wasn’t hungry she figured she had to do something but the question was what? She was too curious about this situation, to know for sure if she was actually right about it.
She was almost positive that she was right about it but there was no way of knowing for sure without saying exactly what it was that he was--to him. Right in his face. Plus there were too many other humans around to really elaborate on it without eyes wandering over to them. It would draw unneeded attention which was exactly what she was hoping to avoid.
She ran a hand through her hair as she pulled out the chair next to him and sat down for a second. Normally she did not need to but this had reminded her of Jake...of the intense heat that shifters like him were all about. And it kind of made her wonder how many were around her at this very moment.
If it was because there were more vampires in the area that it caused more shifters to also arrive or if it was something else altogether. But she knew that everything happened the way it did for a reason even if that reason wasn't really understood. At least that was what her mom always said.

Ethan had been trying to talk his way out of this present conversation. He knew that this girl had a guess what he was and he did not know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He was trying to avoid having to take a risk and finding out.Ethan said" You seem to know what you think you know. I do not know if that is good for anyone to think they know. I think you have had bad experiences with other people and you concoct a bogous thought to throw thoughts on to someone else so you can feel better. What do you think i am."
He was burning up and he wished that it was not a typical symptom of being a wolf. Wheres his other side was considered a Cold One. Ethan said" There is only one type of normal. The other type is called abnormal and I think that is what you think I am. Am i r ight in assuming that.I agree thinking or being normal is way overrated." Ethan took a drink of his pop and a bite or two of his food. He then took a small flask out of his pocket and took a big sip of what was in it. He knew what it was . It w as blood and he needed to have some every now and then to satisify his urges. That kept the humans that were around him much safer. Then he put it back in his pocket. He then fixed his gaze back at the lady. He then saw the lady pull a chair and put it up next to the booth. Ethan asked" So what next . What do you want to know to satisfy your imagination."

She knew this was going to be a converastion that neither one of them wanted to have but she knew too much for her own good. She didn’t care if he was a shifter or a vampire so long as he posed no threat to the humans, including herself in all of this. “I’m not exactly normal by any and all means....as far as what I may or may not know. I know more than you might think, but even if I’m right about what I’m thinking, I’d never say it anyway. I’d never put others in danger simply because I may know something that they don’t necessarily want me to know. It’s not bogous if it’s the truth. I do know you’re not normal—not like most guys. The heat you gave of f just now is more than enough for me to believe that. But even then—secret’s safe with me. I’ve seen things I never imagined I would—so something like this doesn’t scare me off. Or make me afraid.” She answered politely. And then watched as he continued to deny what it was that he was.
She had her suspicions that he was either a vampire or a shifter, or possibly both. “Well it’s like you said, being normal—is vastly overrated.” She replied and watched as he had pulled out a flask and had a feeling that what it was carrying was blood. That much she could think of—whether she was right was another story altogether which is why she didn’t immediately point out the obvious. But his eyes reminded her of some of the other vampires she’d met like the way his heat reminded her of the shifters. “You tell me. I can’t imagine you’d be capable of telling me the truth, not without exposing yourself for what it is that you might be. Or exposing a secret that isn’t yours to expose.” She replied as she watched him for a second, waiting to see if Cara or the others might summon her. If they did she would have to get back to work as unfortunate as that was, but until then she was going to sit here and figure it out. Even if it took all night.

Ethan heard t his female say that she was not normal by any and all means and he chuckled Ethan said” I did not say you were normal now did i. Oh you do now? That is quite interesting to know. Now what do you know that is more than i can think? So you are saying that you are too smart for your own good? How do you know what I just said is bogus ? Unless you have had experiences with it. If that is the truth that is worth knowing about.” He took a breath and sipped at his pop before speaking again. “I will have to agree with you on the heat issue . That is a entirely different issue unless you want to divulge what you know about it somewhere else? You are making me curious to what you have seen or experienced. Well i can just imagine based on what i have lived through what you may be talking about.”Ethan had a dilemma on his hands. He wanted to let her know one way or another but he did not want to cause a stir and cause a scene. He saw her gaze at him while he drunk the blood from the flask and he had the thoughts” She probably has a good idea what is in this flask.”
He then said” You w ould be surprised what i am capable of. If the time is right i am able to do just about anything. Especially if would benefit me in one way or another.I am a part of two worlds colliding into each other. It is a hard thing to fathom and survive but i do it every minute of the day. It is something that makes me be alone and that is something i hate about it. There are things I like about it that you may not understand or even like. I will tell you what. If you truly want to know if you a re right or not We can meet somewhere that is safe to talk freely.”

Taking a deep breath and she chuckled. She watched him carefully. “No you didn’t but that’s not the point. It could be bogus, but I don’t believe it. Well if there’s something you wanted to know—just ask.” She said as she watched as he sipped his pop again. “I will tell you what I know but not here. I really don’t think others need to hear it.” She ran a hand through her hair as she thought about how best to handle the situation without exposing it all in front of the other humans. “I highly doubt I’d be surprised by what it is that you can or cannot do, given what I’ve seen over the years. It depends on what a benefit would mean exactly. Whether it would be in the name of something good, or in the name of something evil.” She chuckled hearing the part about being a part of two worlds. Because she herself had been a part of two worlds when she was dating—engaged to a vampire. Of course the circumstances may have changed, and that she was now single and still human, but her memory hadn’t changed at all. She still recalled all of the information like it was yesterday. The day that she walked away from Edward had changed her life in unexpected ways, but she knew she had to be cautious. She couldn’t put herself in another situation to get hurt again. Even though she sensed that this man wouldn’t hurt her either.
She knew she ought to admit the truth, which was exactly what she was about to do and it would feel like she was taking a huge weight off of her shoulders. Even if the circumstances, would prevent her from further going into detail just yet. “Strangely enough I can relate. Being a part of two worlds that is. I’m sure if you have good friends though that you’re never alone, at least not really. Well I’m supposed to get off shift in just a little bit, in about an hour? How about we meet somewhere to talk? Does that sound alright to you?” She asked as she watched the other man, knowing she was right about the situation but she wasn’t about to just flat out say it. Not infront of the rest of the humans. That would be asking for trouble, and to cause a scene! Something even she didn't want.

Ethan said" No one is normal no matter what they say. They all have some sort of problem . Whether it be mental, psychological, or physical.I take it that you have had a close experince with warm heated people. Yeah we should go somewhere to chit chat about it.No they do not need to k now it. They could not handle the responsibility to know it.You interests me." He finished his meal and drink. He then took a piece of paper out of his pocket and a pen. With a hand cupped over it he wrote" me...wolf and vampire" He then gave it to the waiteress. Hed then said" Read that note and see if you stil want to hang around me. I can be considered a dangerous man . I am trying to change that."
Ethan said"I doubt that you can but you could surprise me. I like to think people could surprise people just what they know from experiences in their life.Friends can be good to have and they can be bad to have. It all matters what the circumstances are and how they react to them once gthey are put in front of you.Yeah that sounds good. I can come back in a hour or so or i could meet you somewhere."
(we can end this one and start a another one)
